Georgetown Loop Excursion
This 8-hour adventure is perfect for all ages with a fun roundtrip train ride between the historic towns of Silver Plume and Georgetown. You'll learn history from the booming silver rush from the 1880's when rich minerals were taken down the tracks through Clear Creek Canyon to the smelters in Denver. Your day will start out with a limo van picking you up at your accommodations and take you to the Silver Plume train station. On the way there you will stop briefly on the top of Loveland Pass at 11,990 feet above sea level to enjoy the scenic vista of the Continental Divide. During the train ride, you will stop for an hour-long guided mine tour of an actual 1880's silver mine. Then you will re-board the train to continue your trip into Georgetown where the train will complete a 360 degree loop and head back to the station in Silver Plume. After the train ride, the adventure continues with a trip to the backside of Leavenworth Mountain, passing stunning waterfalls and mining ruins. Stopping above the pristine Clear Lake shoreline for a gourmet all-you-can-eat picnic lunch. After lunch you will be taken to the historic town of Georgetown to stroll Main Street with quaint stores and wine tasting at Canyon Winds Winery. During the trip, keep your eyes open for big horn sheep, fox, elk, marmot and mountain goats that are frequently seen.
Colorado Zephyr Tour
This is a great way to explore the beauty of Colorado through the comfort of your glass-enclosed rail car with a 110 mile odyssey. As part of the Amtrak's California Zephyr that runs daily from Chicago to San Francisco, this rail journey offers breath-taking riverside views and mountain vistas through the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Your adventure will begin with a luxury van pick-up service from your front door where you will be driven to Granby, Colorado, via a scenic route. In Granby, your driver will provide a delicious lunch before you board the Colorado Zephyr. The trip will wind along the Colorado River through the Glenwood Canyon and end in the historic town of Glenwood Springs. You will then choose from three outdoor family attractions: one choice is the Glenwood Springs Adventure Park with a guided cave tour, a mile-long alpine slide and an aerial tram ride with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. Or perhaps a luxurious soak in the largest outdoor thermally-heated hot springs at the Glenwood Hot Springs. Your last choice is a memorable hike the most beautiful lake in Colorado - Hanging Lake. This one mile trail take you to the most photogenic lake in the Rocky Mountains with a beautiful Hawaii-like waterfall. On your way back to Summit County, the van will stop for 2-hours in Vail, Colorado. Choose a romantic dinner, incredible shopping or a stroll around the world-famous town. This 8-hour adventure will provide you with a good sample of Colorado.
Colorado Zephyr Road Trip Tour
This 7-hour trip is less expensive than the Railroad, but just as scenic with over 300 miles of amazing Colorado landscape. You will start your trip off just as the Colorado Zephyr Trip, but once railroad passengers are dropped in Granby, the luxury van will continue through the Gore Range with several stops for photo opportunities. Wildlife is frequently seen as you follow along the Colorado River possibly seeing the Colorado Zyphyr train. Once the railroad guest re-board in Glenwood Springs, the final journey back to Summit County over Vail pass will conclude the trip.
Royal Gorge Tour
This amazing 11-hour Railroad trip allows you to enjoy both a scenic drive and a railroad through the incredible Royal Gorge. You will be picked up at your front door by a luxury van and taken over the Continental Divide at the top of Hoosier Pass (11,541 feet above sea level). There you can view three fourteeners (Mt Lincoln, Democrat and Bross). Wildlife and views are abundant on your trip to Canon City where you are certain to see buffalo. As you enter Canon City, you will take the Skyline Drive built in the 1930's that offers stellar views of the canyon. Before boarding the train you will be treated to a delicious lunch on the Arkansas Riverbanks. Climb aboard the 1950's diesel locomotive train where you will travel 12 miles up the old Denver, Rio Grande and Western rail line and back. The tracks follow the river where you will watch rafters and kayakers navigate this exciting part of the river with class IV rapids as the conductor explains the history of the area. Once done with the railroad, you will continue your journey to the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey. A beautiful monastery that has been converted into a winery where adults will enjoy a wine tasting. Followed by a quick drive up to the top of the canyon walls to the Royal Gorge Bridge that has thrilled millions of visitors. You can walk across or ride the free trolley with the waters over a thousand feet below. You'll have the choice of riding a 35 passenger aerial tram as it glides from one side of the canyon to the other more than 1200 feet above the Arkansas River or taking the world's steepest incline railway to the bottom of the gorge. The Royal Gorge park is fun for the whole family with a variety of entertainment, musical revue, historical presentations and children's petting zoo. Also, available is an old-fashioned carousel and a miniature train ride on the Silver Rock Railroad. All these activities are included in your tour. After a day of fun, relax in the luxury van on your return trip to Summit County where you are sure to be exhausted from all the fun!
